How does practice work? Is it mandatory?
After Hanover County Public Schools conclude for the summer we offer both morning and afternoon practices. We ask that swimmers attend no more than one practice per day. Practice is not mandatory however we strongly encourage swimmers to attend practice daily.
Do we have to be a member in order for my child to be on swim team?
Yes, our league Greater Richmond Aquatic League requires that each swimmer be a member in good standing of the pool associated with their team.
How long is the summer swim season?
Generally the first practice takes place the Monday BEFORE Memorial Day and the last meet takes place the 2nd week in July.
Are meets mandatory?
While they aren't mandatory we strongly encourage our swimmers to swim in as many meets as possible. Our coaches will ensure that swimmers are swimming the events that meet their skill level. We believe competing in meets is an integral part of becoming a better and stronger swimmer.
Is volunteering mandatory?
Without a doubt, YES!!! Swim team and swim meets CANNOT happen without ALL families doing their part!! There are volunteer positions to fit any level of competitive swimming knowledge. Our swim team coordinator and other parent leaders will help you find the right fit for you to fulfill your family's swim team obligation.
